After letting my hair get good and greasy for a few days (last time I washed it was Saturday evening after a late afternoon at the pool), I decided that, despite the fact that there was a little shampoo left, I would try the baking-soda-paste scalp-massage thing. I was skeptical, but now I sit here, amazed, reaching up every now and then to feel my soft hair. I didn’t bother with the rest of it, and since I didn’t have the apple cider vinegar to make a rinse with, figure that my dry ends could use a break. I’ve heard first hand accounts about how the a.c. vinegar makes it even more smooth and shiny – and the person telling me had really nice hair. So, I’m hooked…now I just need to get a.c. vinegar, except that I’m trying to not go to the grocery store at all this month, arg! (I had the same thought this morning about something else that I wanted to get.) I’m still going to try my original goal of washing once a week, although this weather (hot, sometimes sticky humid) is really making me think I should take a short cool shower once a day.

Once again, I am completely inspired by you and this wonderful blog! I keep looking over at your right hand column and wondering if I’m brave enough to be like you and not only set some goals for this month, but actually post them so I’m held accountable!
I keep contemplating going “no poo” but haven’t ever taken the plunge …. I’ve often wondered if that would be healthier/better for my daughter’s super curly and easily dried out hair, too. It seems like whatever we use for her just causes frizz and I always just buy what is cheapest (so not exactly healthy) to wash my hair with. Hmmm … I’m gonna be watching you to see how your no poo month goes
Thanks again for being so honest and inspiring! You’ve really got me thinking and have renewed my spirit in a lot of areas!
Best Wishes!
I’m wondering if you might get your daughters curls under control by not washing them at all? Many people with curly hair often put some sort of hair grease or gel to tame their curls – why not use the natural oils that the body makes?
I’m always glad to be an inspiration. I’m inspired by your household notebook idea…I’ve got all the parts…I just have to take the time to put it together…might help me keep track of things better!
don’t do it! don’t go to the store– azure sells ACV for cheap!!!!
I thought about it, but then decided to wait till the next Azure drop. My hair looks fine with just the baking soda, so I’m in no rush.
